Pros
* Low cost.
* Fits most furnaces/filter grilles.
Cons
* Relatively high pressure drop.
* Almost nonexistent PFE1 filtration efficiency (sub micron particles).
* Less than mediocre PFE2 filtration efficiency.
* Requires frequent replacements (low holding capacity).

Another offering by Filtrete. The 3M Filtrete MPR 300 Clean Living Basic Dust furnace filter is one of 3M’s lowest performers.

The MPR 300 offers a relatively low permeability which, as with most of the Filtrete line, might add excessive strain on your furnace and AC fan unless your air duct system has some extra available static pressure to spare. Low permeability, which is another term for high-pressure drop, can overheat your furnace or freeze your AC evaporator coil, plus meaningfully increase your system’s operation cost. The permeability will increase rather quickly when using this filter as with most low-pleats one-inch filters (low dust holding capacity when compared to some other filters).

This specific model’s filtration efficiency is low as the efficiency of this air filter at the sub-micron level is stand somewhere between abysmal and terrible, and poor when it comes to 1-3 micron size particles (43.5%).
